The employees at Dorel Juvenile’s Foxboro office have been shopping up a storm over the past few weeks in support of Cradles to Crayons’ Annual Give Back with an Outfit Pack donation program.
Employees chose children from a variety of age ranges to shop for: from three to twelve. They then went out and had fun making sure the packs included everything required. Each pack needed to include a week’s worth of matched outfits, new socks, underwear, and pajamas. The addition of a coat into the packs was optional, but the majority of Dorel’s packs included this important extra.
Winter is always a very challenging season for Cradles to Crayons, when 92% of the requests they receive will include an order for an Outfit Pack. The organization’s website explains how the packs help:
“For example, Kaya is 5 years old and just moved in with her grandmother because her home was not safe. Because she had to leave in a hurry, Kaya arrived with only the clothes on her back. Her grandmother had one extra set of clothes but not enough to last a week. Kaya was embarrassed when she had to wear the same shirt to kindergarten all week. Cradles to Crayons was able to provide Kaya with a comprehensive package that included a week’s worth of clothing which allowed her to go to school confident, warm, and ready to learn.”
At the end, Dorel Juvenile employees put together over 60 Outfit Packs!
Rick Schaub, Executive Vice President of Sales, echoed the thoughts of many, “We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community, especially with a great organization like Cradles to Crayons. Their mission to help children in need aligns really well with Dorel’s mission to care for precious life.”
Employees were also invited to attend the annual Cradles to Crayons’ Winter Un-Gala, a special holiday tradition that highlights their Gear up for Winter program with a festive day of hands-on service. During the Gala this past weekend, families with children and companies worked side by side on behalf of children in need. The event also featured mascots from favorite Boston sports teams, kid-friendly activities and entertainment, a delicious meal, and an impactful presentation that wowed the crowd.
