Your mission

Dorel Juvenile is looking for a Strategic Buyer for our Infant Health and Safety categories. The Strategic Buyer will be based in Foxboro, MA at our US Headquarters and will report to the Strategic Buying Director located in China. The Buyer is responsible for managing relationships with all finished good and software suppliers supporting the product category. Most of the supplier base is located in China. The Buyer will work with the Foxboro product teams directly to support Sourcing, Development and Quality initiatives. This is critical role in supporting the efficient development and fulfillment for the business.


Key responsibilities

Working mainly for US market to ensure that market product roadmaps have the proper level of supplier support. Products must meet rigorous margin and quality requirements. Assist our Asian sourcing office in China in the negotiations with suppliers regarding FX, commodities, tariffs, re-engineering of products. Work closely together on strategic, tactical and operational topics for a coordinated message and direction. Understanding the demand and planning part of the business is critical. Regular meetings with planners are essential. Critique new SOW (statement of work), DSA (design services agreement) and all contractual agreements with legal department. Partner with Director of Legal Affairs in applicable contract negotiations. Using supplier staircase tools, evaluate the development and on time delivery activity of suppliers for our new and in-line products. Report/Present key developmental, production, quality, and pricing updates to management team. Communication via phone with China team is required multiple times per week.


Your profile

Bachelor’s degree along with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant product development experience in a consumer electronics/products environment. The individual must be a self-starter, proactive, and have a keen interest in helping grow the business category. Experience working with technical suppliers with wireless networks and networking protocols (Wi-Fi, Thread Bluetooth LE or similar) a plus. Strong communication skills are critical. Internal and external communication must be clear, timely, and effective. Strong business savvy. High energy and sense of urgency with the ability to anticipate, identify, prioritize and solve problems quickly and accurately. Must have the ability to analyze data and recommend key strategic thinking. Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills a must in order to present data at the team level up to the executive level. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
