Your missionDorel Juvenile US is looking for an Industrial Designer to join our team at our Design and Development Center in Foxboro, MA. You will work as a member of a cross functional team driving consumer insights into exceptional design solutions. As a member of our team you will be cognitively challenged as you create robust design strategies that address the needs of our consumers. Your executional excellence will be challenged by maintaining design intent through high speed manufacturing constraints.
Key responsibilitiesThe position is responsible for developing Hard Good component designs for a variety of juvenile products. Duties include: creating initial sketch input, surface development, revising models to meet final approved standards and working with Engineering, Soft Goods Designers, Fashion Design and China Team to finalize “total product offering” through to final production. With a focus on design execution, apply consumer insights to innovative design solutions. Bring products from concept to production. Develop patentable features and product concepts. Drive competitive advantage. Create visual and functional prototypes for research and internal review. Communicate design intent to factories by creating CAD, Technical ID Specifications detailing fit, finishes, color and graphics. Collaborate with Engineering and Product Marketing to innovate, design and implement design solutions.
Your profileBachelors degree in industrial design with strong knowledge of current trends, materials and innovations within juvenile products design In the area of innovation & technology, must have strong knowledge of engineering and manufacturing practices as well as a strong knowledge of products and processes used by competitors. Follow fashion/lifestyle trends, identify emerging technologies. Participate in cross functional product brainstorming. Must have the ability to create and evaluate 2D concept drawings and translate into 3D surface and CAD models. Construct bread boards and concept models. In-depth experience with CAD, Rapid Prototyping, and Photo Realistic Rendering. Strong knowledge of plastic and metal materials and manufacturing processes. Strong aesthetic sense, with ability to evaluate and make material/quality recommendations. Self-motivation, excellent communication and follow up skills a must. Strong computer skills, specifically in MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite. Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience with 3D CAD Software, such as SolidWorks required. Soft Goods/Sewing experience preferred.
